As for your question, to my knowledge, if you are an honorably discharged Veteran you are eligible for the benefit regardless of when you decide to take advantage of it. Also, there may be additional benefits available because you are a Veteran who resides here in California.

My best advice to you would be to get yourself to a good lender and pronto, specifically one who knows the their way around VA loans. If you need any names and numbers I would be happy put you in touch.
