Some scam artist are using real rental units and/or homes for sale that are vacant and posting them as their own rental unit. And yes they ask people for a deposit and stealing it so please make sure to view the property and verify the validity of the individual or entity who is renting it our before you deliver any personal information or money.

Hello Karen, there are many rental scams these days so beware. Do not send any money to anyone or give personal information either before checking with a license agent/broker to look up the status of the property and whom you should be speaking with.

If the email was asking you to send them money up front.. It's a scam. Feel free to send me an email with details of email and subject property address.
