I think I may be able to help you, I am a Realtor who happens to live and invest in Collingswood. There are a few homes around that I might be able to make work for you, but you do have other options.. Have you ever considered buying a Multifamily? When I moved here 10 years ago, most of my friends were getting their first apartments- I just couldn't swallow investing in someone else's future. I bought a duplex, a multifamily housing 2 apartments, I knew the rent would offset my expenses. I didn't realize how beneficial it was come tax time, not just for the homeowner benefits but as an investment property as well. For instance a % of the dollar spent on regular maintenance and improvements on the property is deduct-able.I was a first time home-buyer, but wasn't as concerned with making the wrong choice because I now had options. If my unit was becoming too small for me I could sell it and buy another home, or even keep the duplex as an investment and buy another home. Either way I have something to show for my "rent". What I ended up doing is converting the home back to it's original state, as a single family home. Collingswood even offers a program to help. ok alot of answers on here are from someone that can benefit from your home buying. truth is a have lived in Collingswood for 15 years and have seen alot of changes. didn't even have one restaurant then. even though taxes are a little high its only because property values have continued to climb here.i have been blessed to live in such a town. walkable , friendly and most of all down to earth people that arent about what you make but youre quaity of life. my kids went to school in Collingswood. because of schools being sectioned by say 5 to 7 block areas my kids could walk to a friends house. this made for life long time friends. when they walked to jr high and hs it just expanded knowing others from other in town schools. the in town sports programs also helped expand friendships. my sons applied themselves in school land ended up with schoalorships. its all about networking right. town teaches that well. if you want a good town with lower taxes id sat audubon is great. only a mile from collingswood.. Oaklynn goes to collingswood hs and is also great. there are 6 close towns here that used to be one place called newton colony named after newton creek. they are haddonfield, haddon hieghts haddon twp(westmont) audubon oaklynn west collingwood and collingwood. all good choices.

You are very lucky because it is a buyers market! There are several great homes in Collingswood that would fit your needs. Now is the best time to buy a home rates are at a historic low and inventory is high so it is a buyers market . You can get in a property with about as much as you would pay for renting a place, 1st month's rent plus month and 1/2 security deposit. I have several Collingswood listing in your price range. Collingswood is a very nice town. I recommend speaking with a mortgage rep first. I have one that i use that could help you. There are some great programs out there also.
