I considering a house purchase in the West 7th area of St. Paul. The house is between St. Clair and Grand and

you can see 35 up the hill from the front yard. Does anyone have any opinion on safety in this area? Crime?

I agree with the above Realtor. Our licenses don't allow us to talk about crime and safety. I would also ask your insurance agent what the cost would be for auto insurance and home owners rates between where you now live and this area. And to reiterate, you need to feel comfortable. It's a very personal decision. I sometimes suggest driving around in the daytime, and then later at night, and see what you think.

Realtors can only direct you to resources regarding crime and safety as we don't track this information and can't offer our opinion (what is "safe" to me might not be to you). My advice is to contact the local police precinct and ask for crime maps, or to talk with their community crime prevention officer. Good luck!
