I am thinking of buying a condo in Boston for my daughter while she is in grad school. 1. I am a 20 yr

20 Yrs of experience in PA
2 I need a Realtor in Boston .
I find myself behaving just like a buyer...!
I am getting some conflicting opinions; I want 275 to 350k max [low I know] and want a smart, funny agent who will be straight forward about the value of this idea.
Looking in Cambridge area mostly.
So fellow Realtors????

Hi Barbara,

There are currently 22 active listings in Cambridge in your price range. Like most of Greater Boston, Cambridge has several distinct neighborhoods. In your price range, you will mostly find 1 bedroom homes in Central Square, Kendall Square(near MIT) or West Cambridge.

I'd be happy to send you more specific information. Somerville might also be a possibility and would probably expand you into the 2 bedroom class of homes.

Hi Barbara, I have the same sort of situation happening with another one of my clients. My clients daughter is graduating from MIT at the end of the month and is going to stay on there to get her PhD. Anyhow, you are looking for a funny broker. Well, I'm a hoot. :)

Terry Ballantyne Indigo Beach Properties! I have a fabulous couple as clients here that bought a son
a condo there in Boston. They loved their Realtor. I will seek the name and call you. They are not easily impressed, so should be a good reference for you! 831 588 8485

I am originally from PA - my family still lives there so i visit very often. I see that you are near Bethlehem. I will have to recommend you to my network that lives out there.

Right now I am working with a mother from Maine who is buying her daughter a condo why she is in school in this exact price range so I know exactly how to help if you are interested. We just went through all the options so I am ready to give you some guidance/eyes in boston if you need it.
My company works only with buyers for a flat fee (we subtract this from our cooperating commission and rebate the remainder back to our clients - might be nice $ to pocket since it is an investment for your daughter) - so we guarantee no steering towards specific listings or % commission chasing. We have a ton of investor clients who we work closely with to deliver info out of state.

Please feel free to reach out to us directly. You can find us here:

Good luck!

Good afternoon Barbara!
As a Realtor yourself, you know that we need a little bit more info. But you CAN find a condo in Cambridge for the price range you mention (even in Harvard Square!). Of course, the square footage will change drastically depending where you need to be.
If you want help, I can help!

Barbara,
If I was totally self-serving I would recommend myself. But Cambridge is NOT my area of specialty. I would HIGHLY recommend Beth York. 75% of her business is finding condos for out-of-state parents for their kids and she knows Cambridge like the back of her hand. Check out her website below and please give her a ring. Please tell her Mike on Trulia sent you! Good luck.
