have not been able to do so. However I want ot finalize a property and will be travelling as soon as somethigin finalizes. THe issue is that I feel that my broker is not up to the same speed Im. I submitted an offer on a property with him earlier and signed some docs. I dont know if I should change the realtor now. Im definetly not very happy with the service.
Communication makes the world go round. On a smaller level, communication, or being able to communicate effectively, is what gets you through each day, in both your career and personal life. Communicating effectively is something that every person can achieve. There is no excuse if your agent is not communicating with you. If he has answers for you and keeping you informed I think he is working. Sometime problem could be listing agent not performing his/her job or lenders not responding. If he or she is not up to your speed than there are quite a few others who would love to work with you.
Communication is the foundation of a fruitful relationship. It sounds as though you're on your way there, excellent! The project in hand is what is important and mutual understanding will get you to satisfaction. Of course you need professional assistance in the complexities of transactions but you should attend to making certain that your objectives are completely understood and that you are up to date about the state of your transaction(s).
Here's hoping it is joyful from now on though BEST deals are usually a bit of a struggle.
Thanks for all the answers. I did talk to him and conveyed what I thought. I do see improvement in the spheres I asked for. Hopefully it will remain this way.
Thanks again for all the suggestions.
Hi Nb, was your offer accepted? are you in escrow? If not you should interview 4 agents this weekend to find someone you are happy with. If your offer has been accepted than you really need to follow through with the realtor you have. Unless you are so unhappy with him that you are willing to walk away from the current home you have an offer on....If you want to talk to another Realtor, one who always put her clients first, I am not going away for the holiday weekend and you can call me....I wish you good luck either way.....Dawn 510-909-0373
Nb2987, As far as I understood, you submitted an offer earlier with this agent and the offer did not get accepted or you dropped the offer. If you are considering another property, you can always go with a new agent. make sure you select a new agent and start receiving listings from him. Ask your current agent to stop sending you the listings.

If you've an offer in negotiation you likely want to follow through. If you fire your agent now you fire your offer.
Picking an agent is likely the most important part of a transaction. Your agent helps locate best opportunities and mediates in your best interest throughout the deal. Identifying their intelligence, skills and diligence is a very difficult problem that requires you being able to discern the difference between excellence and smoke. It IS difficult and you need to use all you perception and intuition.
Recommendations may help but keep in mind that everyone recommends whomsoever they've worked with that hasn't kicked them in the face - really hard.
If I can be of assistance...
You should express your concerns and frustrations with your realtor. And you can demand and fully expect good service.
When you say he's not in the same speed as you are.....did you write an offer on a short sale? If so, your realtor's speed is totally dependent on how quickly the short sale lender acts on your offer. And that could take 45 days or longer just to get an answer.
But before you change realtors....
Please take a look at documents you have signed with your realtor. What did you sign? What are your obligations to this realtor? Are you in the middle of an escrow? What do you mean when you said "finalize a property....something finalizes?"
If you are thinking of switching realtors to write an offer on a property that your current realtor showed you, your realtor can claim that he is the procuring cause. As such, your current realtor may be entitled to the sales commission if your offer is accepted and you close escrow.
It will behoove you to get the answers to these questions and to have a conversation with your realtor. You should give him some constructive feedback even if you decide to switch. At least he will know how he failed to meet your expectations.
Good luck!
