First - I notice you posted in the Charleston, SC forum, but your question was for Charleston, WV, so you might want to repost there for more specifics to your market. Second - your credit may or may not be an indicator of your financial strength, so regardless of what your credit is, you want to make sure you are financially strong before buying a home. (By financially strong, I mean having little other debt & having a good emergency fund saved.) Keep in mind that as a renter, when the AC breaks, you call the landlord to fix it, but as a homeowner, when it breaks YOU have to fix it; so you need to be financially able to pay for emergency fixes & ongoing maintences with cash. For great financial guidance, for true long-term success, check outhttp:// www.FinancialPeace.com. And good luck with your homebuying experience!

Sorry, but unless you can pay cash, you'll need to get your credit fixed either by paying off debt or contacting the three credit agencies and asking them to fix incorrect entries. Use a debt management service to get everything taken care of then be sure you pay them on time.
