There are many areas in Lexington that will probably be able to meet all of your criteria, of course good to one person may not be good to another its pretty subjective. IF you need to be close to certain schools and downtown, really about any place in town will accomplish that in some fashion or other. I think it is smart to review the schools scores and reviews on the local school sites, and to select a neighborhood that has the ammenities you like where the property values and sales have stayed the course the last few years. To me that usually means that is a desirable area. The tricky part is getting that information. Just so happens I know where you can get it, and the last thing is to seek advice from an agent you feel comfortable with, there are many here on this site, some have already responded to this question. I think it be smart to call a few and speak with them to get a feel for who you think will be the best to assist you in your move.
Hi!
I work with many people who are moving to Lexington from out of state and would be happy to help you find the right home and neighborhood. If you're considering public schools at all, you may want to visit my website (listed below) which shows the public school ratings for Fayette County. (We have a very good public school system here.)
If you've definitely decided on christian schools, there are a number of them here that might fit your needs. I'm a graduate of one of the area's parochial schools and have lived in this area all my life, so I'm very familiar with what the various areas and schools have to offer. My website is one of the top real estate websites in Lexington and enables you to search all the listings in the MLS as well as save searches and favorite listings.
Good luck and please feel free to contact me if I can be of any further assistance!

It's always good to have options! I grew up in Lexington and still know the area well! There are a lot of nice neighborhoods that would be an easy commute to downtown. The Lexington Christian Academy is wonderful. Look at http://www.lexingtonchristian.org/
