I am getting ready to sell my house. It is located right on the edge of Durham/RTP. There is a children's park/playground right behind my house that is shared by about 10-15 houses. It is located near Southpoint Mall, and is very convenient to I-40 and I-540. I am going to list it around $140-145k but can be flexible on the price. It is a 3BR, 1.5 bath with all hardwood floors except in the kitchen and bathrooms. Also, the back yard is enclosed by a very tall wooden privacy fence.
Email me if you are interested. Sun Jun 8 2008, 23:33

1) Johnston county is about an hour from RTP
2) North Durham described as north of Infinity Rd is VERY nice, Bahama is in northern Durham county and is VERY country and safe, wonderful for kids. 3) If you're looking to work in the park I suggest looking at Dudley Cir. it's an older neighborhood in the center of the park tucked away so many do not know it's there. A good architect can turn an older ranch into something very cool! 4) West Durham between Pickett and Cornwallis is a GREAT neighborhood, qiuet has a nice park and very interesting modern architecture. 5) Brightleaf at the park is ok now but they will be adding many homes into that area in the future, also at this point there it is a low water pessure zone until they get the new tank up. 6) Watts St. and Trinity Park have very nice older homes and a very nice neighborhood and very close to downtown with the farmers market tobacco trail etc. 7) Glendale south of 85 near Duke Park is a qiuet neighborhood and very nice. Regarding the answer from a home buyer in N. Durham.....I am not sure what location he is speaking of. In all areas of the city, there are less than desirable spots. I have lived in Northern Durham for three years and have had no problems at all and my neighborhood is a safe and family oriented one. I would recommend it to anyone.
I have heard good things about Brightleaf and the location is definitely closer to the RTP area. Good luck and spend time looking around, talking and find out what works best for your family. Sun Jun 1 2008, 07:57

I think you would be crazy to live in north durham. I just sold my home at a 48,000 loss just to get out of the area because people are getting broken into weekly and getting robbed at gunpoint, shot. It is not a safe area. Even though you'll pay a little more per sf, I'd look in south durham or near briar creek at some of the nice townhome areas. Also an area called brightleaf on hwy 70 has homes from $180's to 500's and is great with walking trails, artwork in the culdesacs, a little mini theater for kids to do productions and soon a school will be built there. It is very close to RTP.

What type of home are you looking for, single family, townhome, condo? There are some great areas in Morrisville and Cary. The schools are top rated and you can research them via the following links: http://www.wcpss.net http://www.dpi.state.nc.us http://www.schoolmatters.com I'd be happy to send you some properties via email. If you want to get more house for the money, Johnston County is a great choice. With 4 to 6 lane highways leading to the RTP area the commute isn't bad. Many people in this area commute into the RTP, and enjoy larger homes and lots, and great communities in Clayton. I have many clients who live in Clayton, and work in the RTP. Contact me today and I can show you what Clayton has to offer.

Hi
My wife and I relocated here from Washington D.C. and found the housing market very affordable. We live walking distance from RTP. There are many affordable neighborhoods very close by in your price range. If you provide your needs I would be happy to email you some homes. Thanks, Michael Thu May 15 2008, 06:39 Web Reference: http://www.colvinm.hpw.com

P,
The Triangle area is a great location. There are a great number of area's that fit your bill and a lot of good agents on here from that area. Just take your time and interview some until you find one you are comfortable with. Of course they will want to know how many bedrooms and bathrooms you want and some other guidelines. Some of the best values in the triangle will be found in Raleigh and Southwest Durham. You may also want to consider Holly Springs if you don't mind a longer commute. One of the nice things about living in the triangle is that housing is still affordable, especially when compared to markets like CA. I suggest checking out Woodcroft in Durham, Harrington Grove in Raleigh and Braxton Village in Holly Springs. All three of these neighborhoods offer amenities such as walking trails or community pool and are an easy commute to RTP. Contact me if I you want a custom search of these subdivisions that will notify you as soon as a home comes on the market in your price range.
