I am on long term disability benefits and I am wondering if I can buy a couple of rental properties in AZ without losing my SSA disability benenfits?

My lender said as long as you can provide proof that your long term disability will continue for 3 years you can qualify with disability income. In regards to the disability being affected by purchasing a home you would need to speak with SSA.

You should contact the SSA to find out what their requirements are. I think disability benefits are not impacted as long as you "are not" working, but rental income would be ok, but please check with SSA
good luck!

Hello Jenny,

I think the first place to start is by asking the SSA . I don't know their requirements. For example, once you make $x will they cut off your disability? Although realistically unless you buy your rental property with cash, you probably with see little or no income from the rents. The rent payment will go to pay the expenses of your rental house; mortgage, real estate taxes, maintenance etc. Thanks, Rick
