Home Buying in 20854>Question Details

Ava, Home Buyer in Rockville, MD

I am looking to purchase a home. It has an addition that includes a jacuzzi/hot tub.

Asked by Ava, Rockville, MD Thu May 1, 2008

Is it problematic to retrofit and get rid of the hottub to use the space for something else.

Usually not. You may have to have the tub cut up to get it out of the house. A good remodeler, handyman, or builder will be able to retro fit it for you

Ava,
It should not be problamatic at all. Any qualified, licensed general contractor should be able to give you some great ideas of other uses for the space. Do your homework on the general contractor that you use... make sure they are licensed, check references, ask for examples of previous work, check with the licensing agency to see if any complaints against the contractor have been filed, etc. All this homework on the front-end will ensure you a successful project and improvements that you can enjoy for a long time.

Good luck!

My neighbor did it. They brought in a contractor to remove the limited plumbing to it. FIlled it in and then put a brick patio floor over it. Looks great and you cannot tell it once held a jacuzzi. Shouldn't be a big deal, but a contractor would be happy to give you a bid.

Ava, you can modify the house in the way adds value to you and your lifestyle. However, you have to take in the consideration, the modification that you do, adds value to you and your family, but does it value the future buyers?

I had buyers that replaced the Tub with an upgraded Shower!

Cheers!
