I am looking to move to Cheltenham or Abington Townships? What are the advantages or disadvantages to each?

Hi there! Another important aspect to keep in mind when considering two communities is the school district. You can compare these two school districts at this link: http://www.judysfinehomes.com/resources/schools.htm.

Your Realtor should be able to give you more information related to each community. If you haven't yet hired a Realtor, I would HIGHLY recommend that you do so sooner rather later. I would suggest that you interview 2-3 Realtors and choose one that your "gut" tells you will work hard for you and will work to protect YOUR interests (re: contract clauses and negotiation strategies) as well as someone who is sufficiently experienced. (Having practiced law prior to entering the real estate industry, I offer my clients unique insight re: contract law and effective negotiation strategies.)

If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me at (610) 324-5240. It would be my pleasure to assist you in any way that I can.

Good luck.....and blessings to you!

Warmly,
Judy

The biggest difference is property taxes for comparable properties in both townships. Cheltenham township, for the most part, is much higher. Be sure to review the tax records before pursuing a property and review with your agent and mortgage lender the numbers.

Property taxes may be extremely different in these two areas. School tax is higher in cheltenham twnshp. Abington taxes are more reasonable but there are certain pockets that have higher than average taxes.
Contact me for more info on each area.
