I need to agree with George in that the school question can be very subjective and complex as every child is different in terms of learning styles and needs, and each family looks at very different criteria when evaluating what the 'right school' is for their family and children. That being said, you may want to start by checking out the numerous sites that provide various data and information on local schools. I have a number of these sites listed on my own website under 'helpful links' which can be found here: http://www.beangroup.net/agents/SigaSnipas/helpfullinks
Additional school and market information and market trends for Andover can be found at: http://www.beangroup.net/massachusetts/market-reports/essex-
Finally, Andover properties currently on the market can be seen here: http://www.beangroup.net/Search/?frm=agt&aid=775262
At the above site you can also sign up for daily property e-mails.
Good luck with your school decision and please let me know if I can be of any further assistance with your home search!
I am speaking from personel experience my 3 children went to the Sargent school and I can not say enough about how great everyone was there. From administration to the teaching staff they were great. My youngest had a reading disability and there were just awesome.
As a Realtor in Andover, I get this question frequently from home-buyers ... and the answer is not easy! In general, all the Andover public schools are excellent compared to most other towns, and fare very well in test results and rankings. If test results are your main criteria for which school is "better," MCAS scores are as good a barometer as any. You can find these details on the state's MCAS site, http://www.doe.mass.edu/mcas/results.html - click on 'School and District Profiles'. You can also link to this site from Andover's schools web page, http://www.aps1.net, which gives more info about each school.
Beyond test scores, there are so many other criteria that families also use to determine how they feel about particular schools, it can become very subjective. When you also factor in buying a suitable home in a specific district, it adds more complexity to the equation. If it helps, I would be happy to speak with you and share some of my insights on the school systems and different areas of Andover with respect to housing inventory. Good luck!

There is a great forum (similar what trulia is for real estate) for schools.
The website is: http://www.greatschools.net/
You can ask local folks in the community their thoughts and ratings on schools. The website actually has an internal rating system as well based on test performances and other variables.
