My name is Rose Canha of Trend 2000 Real Estate. Your first step is contact a Realtor who is knowledgeable in the area you are searching. Ask to see their credentials. Are they a Realtor? Full time? Ask for a copy of their license. Check with the Consumer Protection Department to see if there have been any complaints. Don't take their word for it, ask to see what they sold in the area you are searching.
I deal with a select few lenders because of their reputation and various lending programs. You do not need to put 20% down. Watch out for "special deals" with financing when purchasing FSBO's.
