With respect to your question putting a large downpayment down, you are still required to be pre-qualified, as no offer can be made without some proof of your funds period, and as far as the balance remaining after your down-payment, it must be know where those funds will also come from. With such a large down-payment, you honestly should probably not really worry about getting pre-qualified as it appears you most likely are.

Please understand that Seller's must know the party making an offer is indeed qualified, especially prior to their taking the time to respond to an offer, not to mention taking their home off the market while having to wait for the buyer to be approved.
