Hello Teresa. It would be helpful to know more about your circumstances and how far back you want to go. Do you just want to know any properties that your father's immediate family ever owned or are you interested in the whole ancestry? You may be able to get help from someone who specializes in genealogy. Sometimes, local churches have records that may help you in establishing who the members of the family were. If you are more interested in your father's immediate family, a private investigator might also be able to help. If you have your father's social security #, the search would probably be a lot easier.
It will take a little bit of legwork as getting the information can be made more difficult when records were destroyed in a fire or other catastrophy and whether you'll encounter any of those obstacles will depend on your particular circumstance and how far back you need to go. Best of luck.
