Here is my advice. Find 3 agents that LIVE in the area you are searching and interview them. Make sure they have at least 5 years experience and understand todays loan options and have represented buyers recently during a short sale and foreclosure transaction.

I would encourage you to interview a few Buyer's Agents in order to find the right one that fits, including me. Any agent can show you homes, but not every agent represents/helps buyers because most of them are listing agents who represent sellers.
