I am looking for a neighborhood that has lots of young families as well as an older mix. A place where

you
see people outside walking and chatting. Does such a place exist in Richmond without having to live 10 miles out of town?? Oh yeah--low crime too!! FAn probably too $$.

The good news is that you can find this environment in most of the city's historic neighborhood as well as some of the communities in the county. Get out of the car and walk these neighborhoods - Museum District, Church Hill, Belview, Ginter Park, Woodland Heights, Forrest Hill - just to name a few. Each of the city's neighborhoods has it own flavor and I am sure you will find a place that will meet your needs.

I see no one has mentioned Historic Churchill, where home prices range according to square footage and proxi to Broad Street and/or Chimorazo Park. Close to downtown, some homes have tax abatement credits and many have historic features with new amenities. email me for your list to check-out at your leisure - veronicataylor@msn.com

When I first moved to Richmond, I told my Realtor that I wanted to live in the city, but in an area of the city where I could feel safe, walk my dog at 11 pm if necessary, etc. My Realtor at the time said that if I wanted safe, then I didn't want the city. So I moved to the Far West End. Since getting into the real estate business & getting to know lots of different areas, I have myself moved to the Bellevue area in the northside of the city. Here I find that it is really like a neighborhood - people talk across the fence, there is a nice mix of people who have been in the area for 40+ years who have raised kids there while having young couples & families with young kids living there. And having been a Realtor for well over 12 years, I have gotten to know other areas of the city and the county where I think you will find the same kind of neighborliness. I work with many buyers who relocate to the Richmond area, which has allowed me to get to know many of the different neighborhoods - both in the city and outside of the city - that you would possibly enjoy living in and getting to know. Feel free to call or email me and I would be more than happy to meet with you.

Sure, the city, the near westend is that way and has affordable homes up to millions. I walk and chat and meet new people all of the time. You have Carytown, the area of LIbbie and Grove and the Patterson Avenue shopping area and River Road Shopping areas. Call me...this is my area of expertise. I can keep an eye out for your perfect house/condo. If I could choose a smaller community to live in, I would chose Ashland. The town of Ashland around the college and the R/R tracks is quite friendly...but it is more than 10 miles from town. Worth the drive to check it out. If I can help call me at 290-8866
