Dear Tara,

One thing to look out for in Tampa Bay is high Community Development District taxes. This is an extra tax on top of the normal property taxes. Most of the communities in New Tampa have this extra burden on the homeowner. Some cases it is as much as $3,000 extra per year.

Westchase has two separate CDDs and the original CDD will soon have the bonding portion paid off so it may offer one of the better values in Tampa Bay as far as planned communities.

I checked into the Windermere website and it looks lovely with all its lakes. Is it the lakes, the amenities, the lifestyle, or just the variety of housing choices that attracts you.
