What was the major changes in each of these building codes? I am particularly concerned with hurricane protection and insulation. Am I correct in my assumption that, if I want to purchase a house that was built to these upgraded specifications, it would normally have to be one that was completed at least 12 months after the effective date of the code?
My original question probably was not clear. I am not looking to purchase a book of building codes and become an authority on all the they contain. I am under the impression that Florida improved their building code after hurricane Andrew and I thought that they may have made other improvements since then, perhaps after hurricane Charlie. I am also under the impression that the hurricane code requirements for inland areas are not the same as those for coastal areas. So I am simpily trying to find out when recent changes in the hurricane codes for inland areas went into effect.
Hello! You might be able to find the information you are looking for on this website: http://www.lakelandgov.net/commdev/building/codesconstr.html As far as waiting 12 months - I used to work for a builder and we could have a new home (up to code) in 4 months. I would be happy to research more information for you. Please, contact me at yourFLhome@kw.com or 813-966-1571 http://x310818.yourkwagent.com/
Thanks!
