Asked by Helena.carleton4, Greensboro, NC Tue Apr 30, 2013

I am interested in living in the downtown area - or a neighborhood near by. I have a limited budget around 50,000 thousand . Can someone please give me a range of streets - names of neighborhoods , something that I can use as a bench mark to know I am in the right location. I am not local. I am planning a trip to check things out in a few months- but I would like to have at least a few listings lined up before I leave.
Thank you in advance- looking for a small town feel, a place where I could walk to a cafe for a coffee, or to a place with my dog.

Hello, Helena -

Your wish list indicates that the historic district is what you're looking for (west of US 41 and between the River and Virginia); your price range presently will not work in there.

The lowest-price property that has sold in the historic district during the last twelve months went for $50,000, but there is nothing currently for sale in there under $100,000. We may have one coming on during the next month or so for around $100,000 and, of course, you never know what may show up tomorrow.

We suggest you select a Realtor to work for you - they would set up a search/notification process based on your specifications and then you sit back, wait and be VERY prepared to move quickly.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Regards,

Ken & Karen

The area of Punta Gorda that would have homes in your price range are near Cooper St, Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd, E. Virginia, E. Charlotte. It is a non deed-restricted area so it does not have a neighborhood name. There is only one home for sale in that area. There are condos, mobile homes and single family homes under $50k in other areas in Punta Gorda. The condos and mobile home parks would have association fees and some have pet restrictions.

I would be happy to send you some listings if you could send me your specific search criteria. You can also search for properties on my web site at: http://www.tammyhayes.remax-florida.com/

Hello Helena,

You have picked a wonderful town to be a part of, however with your current budget there won't be much to choose from. There is one listing that is really your only option in the downtown Punta gorda Area under $50K.
