Home Buying in 08360>Question Details

Ally, Renter in 08360

I am currently on section 8 and would really be interested in buying a home for my family and I.Need advice on what homes I can look at price ranges.

Asked by Ally, 08360 Fri Apr 1, 2011

I have been renting my home for almost 5 years but it is not what I am interested in any longer. However I am not sure if I have to look into Hud homes only, do I have to find a loan first? I have only been a renter and never a "buyer" Any impute would be greatly appreciated!

Section 8 Housing Vouchers are considered "income." So long as you meet income and other eligibility requirements, your Section 8 voucher can be used towards your mortgage payments. You will need to speak to your Public Housing Agency (PHA) and a mortgage lender or broker in your area to learn more.

You are not limited to HUD homes or any other type home. You can use the voucher towards mortgage payments on any home you purchase.

Section 8 only provides rental assistance. Once you decide to buy you will be on your own. There are departments throughout HUD that can help you through the home buying process by supplying you with information and consul but thats about it. You'll need to start working with a Realtor, they will guide you through all the steps. I dont live far from Vineland and I'm pretty familiar with the area if you would like my assistance just let me know.

Hello Ally:
Discuss your wishes with your case worker and find out what your voucher will allow. Then speak with an agent to look for homes that meet your criteria. If you wish to contact me direct, I would help find you a new home.

First, your best bet is to contact a LOCAL Mortgage Broker at "Find a Pro" in the header of this website to get qualified. http://www.naplesrealestateguys.com/

There's a program through section 8 that will provide funding for the purchase of a home. It's a really great program and I've sold 2 homes through the program in the past. They do require you to take some classes but it's well worth it! Please Call me if you have any questions! Maria Larrain-Sauro 856-207-4678
