Meet with a Local Mortgage Banker to get prequalified for mortgage financing. The Mortgage Banker will review all facets of your loan request to answer your questions with regards to the types of loans and maximum loan amounts you could qualify for.
Line up a Home Inspector. A good home inspector will scare the heck out of you: that's what you pay him for! But you'll concentrate on the fundamentals of the property: roof free of leaks, plumbing, heating and electrical up to code and in good working order. Again, when you make an offer and you have your Home Inspector ready to go, your offer will be considered with much more interest by a Seller because you truly have your "ducks in a row" and your preparation demonstrates your serious attitude about conducting the purchase transaction in a timely manner.
Find an experienced Local Realtor who works in your desired shopping area. A serious pro Realtor will refuse to show you homes until you are Prequalified for mortgage financing. Don't take offense! That Realtor doesn't want you to be disappointed and wants you to have a smooth experience as you shop for your new home.

Hope you have already talked with a lender and know what you are looking for example the size of the property and the sales price. Remember to do inspection and work with a Realtor that you feel comfortable working with.

I would suggest doing some research on that market and the agents that are active there. Looks like the list prices in 75241 range from $20,000 to $150,000. I count 8 realtors (via our system) that have material experience in this zip code and in this price range. A conversation with one of these 5 realtors will quickly tell you the pros and cons of buying in this area of town. I would be happy to introduce you to any of them.
As an aside: I ate dinner in a place called La Bolsa last weekend that is not too far from this zip code (btw, the restaurant is over priced... imho) so I can tell you from recent experience that this section of town is really diverse. If it were me, I would want someone experienced enough to be able to tell me which individual streets has more upside potential than not. The more diverse a section of town, the greater the potential for gain or loss... so getting good advice becomes even more important.

Not sure what you are looking for but the Zip Code you gace is the Oak Cliff section of Dallas. Oak Cliff is a very diverse area and has everything imaginable in homes, people, etc. If you can be more specific with questions it would help. I have inspected a number of homes in the area already.
