Mable: Generally speaking in the Hanover Pa area. You will need 5+ acres for 5 horses. My speciality is horse farms and other country property. Have 4 horses near Codorus State park which has approx 10 miles of excellent public riding trails. Please visit my website at <danrodgers.featuredwebsite.com> Dan Rodgers

There are a lot of questions I would have to ask before I could provide you with the information you need to make a decision.

Do you have a REALTOR that is working for you in your relocation process? If not, I would like to recommend that you visit my web site to determine if a particular area or school district is important to you. Once that is determined, we would need to see what properties are available in the price range that you wish to purchase and the zoning for each of those properties.

Relocating with horses is a little more involved because you have zoning to deal with and finding a property that will fit your budget.

We have the ability to send you listings directly to your email as they become available to the market. If you would like some assistance in making this life change, please email me at peggy@peggygist.com

Both Realtors have given you really great answers. I wish you luck. I do have a place in mind if you send me some contact info I will forward this property to you. It is listed FSBO ( for sale by owner) . I received the listing via e mail and would be happy to forward it to you. Thank You,Sharon Harris sharris@aqre.com or 717 465 0661

Mable:

I am a realtor in Hanover and also a horseperson. I operate a boarding facility just outside of Hanover. I deal quite a bit with horse properties. Answering your question is not quite as easy as you may think. The answer has to be "it depends". It depends on the zoning of the property you are interested in and also the township it is in. For example, Paradise Township requires a minimum of 5 acres for the first horse and one horse per acre after that. Several of the other townships have a 1,000 pound per acre rule and several have the one horse per acre rule. As a rule of thumb, one horse per acre is a good guideline to follow. If you provide me with some information on what you are looking for I would be happy to set up a property search for you directly on the MLS system.

I can be reached at jamesrealestate@comcast.net or at 717-515-2309.

I think you need to provide a more detailed area to answer that. What township? Each township has their own rules regarding minimum acreage and horses.
