Hi, Margo! My name is Shannon Holmes, and I'm a Realtor and Birmingham native. Located in the wonderful Hoover school district, (my 5 children in the system make me somewhat of an expert) Greystone is a very beautiful area that is close to many amenities. One of the few drawbacks to this area is the 280 rush hour traffic. The good news is that it only lasts about 1 1/2 hours twice a day, and is not nearly as bad as most larger cities. If you will be commuting to downtown Birmingham, then Mountain Brook is centrally located. Since this planned community was founded in the 1920's, many of the homes are extremely beautiful and unique, with a level of craftmanship that would be difficult to reproduce today. If the school district is a consideration, Mountain Brook Schools are consistently ranked at the top.
