I WAS THINKING ABOUT BUYING A MODULAR OR MANUFACTURED HOME FROM PALM HARBOR AND THEN I HEARD FROM A FRIEND THAT THEY WERE SUSPENDED FROM THE BBB BECAUSE THEY NEVER STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND THE HOMES ARE NOT BUILT GOOD. IS THIS TRUE?

I don't know the answer to the specific question either but for a brief while, I was looking into modular/prefab homes because I thought they'd be cheaper.
I did some internet research and it turns out that these homes really aren't. Sometimes they're even more expensive than houses built on-site all totaled. You have to look at the whole picture if you're going that route, there are some hidden costs you might not be informed of.

Hello Homebuyer62,

I can not comment on your specific question. However, there are minimum manufacturing standards that have to be met by all manufactured/modular home companies. Additionally Texas has an entire division that regulates and monitors the manufactured home industry. You should take a moment and view their WEB site at http://www.tdhca.state.tx.us/mh/. They have a large amount of available information including enforcement actions against all participants in the manufactured home industry in Texas.

Good luck!

You should talk to the BBB directly to find out about that. The website may not have current information on there. As always you should do your homework before a major purchase like that. I'm curious as to why your interested in a mobile home as opposed to other housing options?
