Good Afternoon Charlie,

Huntsville is a very dynamic area with some of the highest incomes in the southeast. It is a community of educated people for the most part college graduates. The defense industry and research plays a big role in the economy here, and there are multiple educational opportunities including University of Alabama - Huntsville, A & M, Oakwood College, many good junior colleges and trade schools. Madison, just contiguous to Huntsville was selected the #2 place in the nation to bring up a family. If you would like a comprehensive package of area attractions and housing opportunities, please e-mail me at drabb1112@aol.com. I am a realtor with Crye-Like Realtors, and can pre-select some homes for you to preview in various parts of town if you will send me some of your preferences including number of bedrooms, budget, size home, new construction/existing home, number and ages of people living there, where you plan to work, look at driving times and traffic patterns! Good Luck on your relocation! Best regards, Dianne Rabb

Hi Charlie, I'm not a realtor, but I do have a home for sell and was going to check it out on this site. I saw your question and couldn't help but want to answer you. I relocated to this area in '99 and love it. Am only moving now due to need of aging parents and health. There are many things to do in the area itself from museums, art galleries, festivals at various times of the year, lots of shopping, nature areas and state parks, & sports of all kinds (even "football" which we call soccer over here, of course. There is an ice complex, some roller skating rinks, many bowling alleys, if any of those might be activities you love. There are also several venues for plays and other theatre presentations. If you like antiques, there are plenty of options to fill that need in the area. Arts and craft options can also be found. Then, if you include the regional area, there are vineyards, orchards, the Jack Daniels Distillery, lakes, caves, waterfalls, rivers, and much more. As to your question about city planning, I'm sorry I can't answer that. But I can say Huntsville is a growning city. The whole county, Madison, is not stagnant. There are always new opportunities for growth. As for housing, you can find the gamut, from luxury areas to homey neighborhoods. You can even find places with the country feel within a few minutes of town center. I hope you love the Huntsville area as much as I have.

Hi Charlie,

I have several friends that live here in Huntsville that have just moved from London. They see many good things about Huntsville including the space, ease in getting places because of low-traffic and lowere prices, lower cost of living and bigger living spaces. We expect an influx of people moving from the Washington D.C.area in 2009, 2010 and 2011. There will be and is a great deal of new construction going on. We have a lot of outdoor recreation and 4 comfortable seasons. I would be happy to send you additional area information and housing examples. Feel free to srop me a note with your housing requirments: Number of bedrooms, garden size, school requirements, work proximity, and price range.
My email is HuntsvilleEstateBroker@gmail.com and my cell # is (256)348-5833. I'm interested to know when you plan to visit for a tour. Debbie Collins Huntsville Alabama.
