How to get a bond instead of paying escrow?
I am about to buy a house in Dearborn, Mi and I would like to get more information about bonds. What does a bond mean and how to buy it. A list of local bond companies would be great.
I also want to understand what does temporary certificate of occupancy means, does it mean I can live in the house while fixing it, or what. Thanks a lot.

I have tried bail bondsman but it didn't work, here is what worked :-)
Zervos Group, Inc. (248) 355 - 4411 24724 Farmbrook Rd. Southfield, MI 48034 I talked with Lee over the phone and she was very helpful, she finished the bond in the same day actually in couple of hours it was me who delayed the process to get notarization and drive there to get the bond. The rate was excellent 3%. The city of Dearborn used to recommend Goldfarb bonding agency but they don't recommend anyone any more, my real estate agent referred me to Goldfarb but their process was complex and I didn't get approval even with a cosigner who owns a home for over ten years and their rate is very high (6% double Zervos rate). After that I tried to find a bonding agency for weeks but all of them either didn't know what it is or said they don't offer it, even my insurance company looked into it and wasn't able to offer it, I was happy to find Zervos Group, Inc. they assisted me in a very timely manner and saved me from losing my future home because I couldn't get a bond or pay escrow. About the temporary certificate of occupancy, I have asked the city of Dearborn and they told me that it means that I can stay in the house all day working on fixing it but I can't live in it. Hope this helps someone and saves them from going through the hassle that I went through. Thu Jul 24 2008, 14:09

Call up a bail bondsman. They will charge anywhere from 3 to 5 %. But many are reluctant to put up bond with city of Dearborn, as the city has a reputation of being slow to release the money (in addition to changing codes on you during process).
