Ever thought of moving down to the Denver area? If you are looking for a mid-century modern historic neighborhood there is Arapahoe Acres just south of the University of Denver. It is the 1st post WWII neighborhood to receive an historic designation (great collection of mid-century modern homes). There are currently 4 homes for sale here in my neighborhood.
Let me know if I can help.

Hiwan Hills has gotten pretty pricy in the last few years because builders started purchasing older properties and redeveloping them to sell at prices rivaling homes the Ridge at Hiwan. You might want to look at Hiwan Village as an alternative. Look at MLS 762922, 755753, 748225, maybe even 686537 in Forest Estates, 796932 in El Pinal. The Hiwan Village neighborhood is one starting to turn. Some people do not want to be out in the woods with well and septic, they prefer public water/sewer and this is an affordable neighborhood with original hardwood floors, nice sized kitchens,

If you'd like to see the inside of any of these homes give me a call 303-618-1925.

Thank you for all of your answers! Sorry I should have specified I'm looking for something approx. 300K or less. Also, I am only looking for original, un-remodeled (in most cases), modern architecture similar to what you would find in Arapahoe Acres. I've driven around Hiwan Hills and seen an area with quite a few but never any for sale. Yes I am looking for flat-roofed or A-frame post and beam style with lots of glass and an open floor plan. I'm ok with an original kitchen and bathrooms, wood paneling and I don't care how many bedrooms. I don't even care if it has shag carpet! Even going up to 400K, I haven't seen any like that on the market and many of the ones I have seen look like they could use some work. I'm guessing they may be the original owners.

Hi Dagny,

If you consider original mid-century modern homes to be low roofed, relatively simple designed, open floor plans, reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wrights designs, with extensive windows to integrate the outdoors with the interior design--the answer is moderately infrequently.

Depending on which features of this era you hold highest on your priority list, there may be several candidates that could work for you. For example, there are several post and beam homes available and frequent additions to the market inventory that have both broad roofs and large windows. Of course those in original condition are few and far between. However, I'll be happy to show you what is available and discuss your priorities.

If you'd like a simple way to explore on your own take a look at this search map I created for you: http://idx.diversesolutions.com/link/41187 it is a google mash up of every home available in Evergreen built between 1945 and 1972. It'll help you get started--If you want to delegate your search or see the interiors please let me know!

Who is...
Meant to say that there are 36-40 homes for sale in the age range 1950 -1970. Obviously there are lots of other homes for sale in North and South Evergreen.

Have a great week.

Who is Jon Galt! What a handle!

Evergreen has a very broad footprint and includes parts of Clear Creek County as well as Jefferson County. There are 36-40 homes for sale in all of Evergreen. The most distinguishing feature of Hiwan Hills is the public services issue. As you know from living in Evergreen only about 30% of homes have public water and sewer.
If you want to be in Hiwan Hills, (and want a single family home) check out these MLS numbers: 546171, 767363, 756609, 794211, 659861. This list has no regard for price. I've shown 756609, 794211 and 767363 many times recently. All are very nice and have brought their homes up to modern standards by opening up kitchens, granite and improved older hardwood floors. The common theme is smaller bedrooms, lower ceilings, but great in-town locations.
Homes of the 60s frequently have post-modern architecture - flat roofs, lots of wood paneling, smaller bedrooms again, many don't have garages for some reason. There are lots of these in Hiwan, but they do go quickly because the post-modern style has become very desirable again in the last couple of years. Be watchful, or let me watch for you.

I am dedicated to the Evergreen area. I have lived here since the early 1970s and have been a realtor in this area for over 10 years. I'm active in the Evergreen Chamber, stay involved and support local events and activities like the Rodeo Weekend, Evergreen Players, Chili Cookoff, and specializing in relocation representation, and distressed property representation.

There are lots of great options in Evergreen. I'd love to introduce some of these homes to you. Give me a call:

Hi,

I just looked up Hiwan Hills on the MLS and there are currently 3 on the market that were built between 1950 - 1970, with 13 homes on the market in total. If you would like more information on these homes, please give me a call or email me and I will send you the information sheets.

Thanks,
