How is the Cataldi neighborhood in SanJose. We are looking for a family oriented friendly neighborhood to bring up our small kids.

Help the community by answering this question:

If the neighborhood appeals to you, imagine you live there. Take an afternoon and visit the nearby parks and talk to the people you meet. Ask them what activities their kids are involved in. Find the route your children would take to get to school. Visit the houses you are interested in during the morning when children are going to school. You will have a very good feel if the area is what you are looking for.

If you haven't reached a point where you want to take the time to actually spend time in the neighborhood then visit the local school websites. See what clubs, what activities, and what classes the schools offer. Search for what after school sports teams are in the area.

If you need help finding and buying the best home, I and my team would be glad to help you.

Hi Happy:

Whenever we use words like "family oriented" or "small children", as agents, we cannot comment on these qualities for fear of violating housing discrimination laws, so we'd never post comments on this matter publicly and certainly not on a website.

What we can say, however, is that Cataldi is one of the robust neighborhoods in the area, and you can certainly see both fabulous homes and good opportunites in this area. As to the overall lifestyle within the community, the best way to find out what it would be like to live in the community is simply to ask the neighbors. Knock on a couple doors near the home where you'd like to live and ask the neighbors what it's like to live there, how many children and or families live down the street, and get their impressions on the community first-hand.

In addition to asking the neighbors about the lifestyle in the area, you can also check the following for ratings for the local schools and crime in the area at:

To add some clarification to what Grace said, overall, Realtors are prohibited by law from telling you whether or not any specific neighborhood is safe. It’s called “steering” and we are prohibited by our code of ethics and federal law from providing such information. Here are a couple posts that explain more:

NO STEERING ALLOWED: 3 Important Facts To Know As A Buyer

Don’t Get ‘Steered’ in the Wrong Direction…

However, we CAN tell you where to go to get information. In your case, for crime statistics, go to the following sites:

Dear Happyhomebuyer,

By law, we could not say anything about "family oriented" because it will be a red flag for steering. Therefore, what I could suggest you to do is to speak to your agent or drive or take a walk to the area you want to buy home at least couple different time so you have some idea how the neighbors are.

In case you have not had any agent working for you, I would be delighted to be your agent. I suggest you to visit my website to get read more information of my profile at http://www.4reohomes.us.

My very best warm regards,

Thank you for your question.

Grace Morioka gave you an excellent recommendation and that is to go out and knock on some of the doors in the neighborhood and talk to some of the neighbors. That will give you an excellent idea of what the neighborhood is like.

I have represented a number of clients over the years in the purchase of their homes in the north San Jose area.

My experience with north San Jose is that my clients have been pleased with the homes and the neighborhood that they purchased in North San Jose.

The best way to tell if this is the neighborhood for you is to go out and knock on some doors and talk to the neighbors.

Thank you,

The Cataldi neighborhood is a nice area. its got a fantastic park that is full with families and young kids almost every evening.
I have a listing coming on the market on Agua Vista with in the next 10 to 14 days. Its a 4 bed, 2 1/2 bath home that is over 1800 sq ft. Its in great condition and has been upgraded. Its got a fantastic back yard. The area is close to highways, light rail, shopping and much much more.

I think the area is very good and offer great value for money. My listing will be around the $650K price range. I expect that it will go quickly, if you are interested in previewing the home call me at 408.300.3184.
