As an agent who lists/sells in Port Jefferson Station regularly, I can refer you to http://www.bestplaces.net/zip-code/new_york/port_jefferson_s… This site can give you all of the information needed to make an informed decision for Terryville, as well as other areas (just change the criteria with regards to town).

Hope this helps you and if you need any other assistance, please feel free to contact me.

We are currently living in Port Jefferson Station with our two teenage high schoolers. We love the proximity to the Three Village High School, Stonybrook University, Port Jefferson , Route 347, Smithhaven mall and shopping. There are other school districts within Port Jefferson Station including Middle Country, Comsewogue, Port Jefferson, and Mount Sinai. I have lived in Stonybrook (as an Alumnus) and Port Jefferson so I am quite familiar with the area. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in seeing anything here or the surrounding areas.

Smooth -

I guess the below responses answers your question. You might check out http://www.city-data.org (or .com - can't remember). they have forums in there where "regular people" can say whatever they want.

Us Realtors have to obey certain rules and stuff.

Good luck to you!

Keep in mind that opinions are often subjective--Much will depend on your wants, needs, lifestyle, likes, dislikes, etc. If you are not familiar with the area, visit more than once and at different times of day to get a sense of belonging--look at everything that is important to you and then make a determination--will you be happy living there.

Realtors cannot comment on two subject matters (by law); schools and neigborhoods.

Every place is wonderful...to the person who likes it. You have to do your own investigation. Sorry.
