How do I know what to estimate for property taxes when I'm doing my mortgage calculations for Allen or?

I usually just estimate 3% for a ball park figure, which is high. If you want more accurate figures, go to the taxing authority for the actual rate. Title companies also keep track of the annual rates for local communities. Most have a free handout they will provide you. Your realtor probably has one or a handful of these.

If you have a property in mind you can search the tax rolls for last years taxes. Some counties have alteady posted 09's estimates.
