How do I get approved for a mortgage and get new haven forgivable loan?

Asked by Redlewis13, New York, NY Fri Jan 31, 2014

I live and work in New Haven, CT. Turns out there's a first time Homebuyers forgivable loan available. I've found a home for less than $105k that said if was approved for this loan and no pmi and only 3%down. I have the dowmpayment but bad credit. Will I have trouble getting the house?

Unfortunately, "bad credit" will not get you a home. YOu have to demonstrate to the lender that you have the credability and resources available to buy a home.

the minimum down payment is 3.5% and the forgivable loan is a grant. To fix your home. It is forgived only if you stay there for a stated period of time.

Speak with your lender to find out the credit requirements for the programs you are interested in. This will serve as a useful first step in knowing if you qualify for a mortgage.
