Carol,
Either a local realtor or the register of deeds for that particular county. So if you pull up the Pamlico Counties website and then go to the register of deeds you will search by address. I am including the website below. This is the Pamlico County Register of Deeds online website.

Hope this helps,

Carol,
If you just need to know the sales prices and dates for a property within the last 10 years or so, you could check out a website like http://www.cyberhomes.com, which is run by Fidelity National Title Company. When you look up a specific property, you will see that information listed. If you need a more comprehensive sales history than that, you would have to go directly to the county recorder's office to look up recorded sales or to a title company, which would also have access to those records. You may have to pay a fee if you go to a title company, however. At the county office, you will likely only pay a fee on copies you request.

If your interest is in finding out how much the current owner paid and when, the website should work fine.

Another way is to work with your realtor or appraiser. They have access to these records and may not charge you for the information.

Good Luck!

Your local auditor's web site. Some sites require a small fee to view the results, but it's worth it to know first hand. Be careful that the sales price shown will not reflect any seller consessions (seller paid closing costs or down payment assistance) for that informaition you will need to have access to the multiple listing service.
