How do I find out if a house I am interested in is in a flood zone since it is near a pond but not on it?

Rose, FEMA is the agency that determines whether or not you will need to have Flood Insurance. If the property is in a flood zone as dtermined by FEMA the bank will require you to have the insurance. FEMA has an online site which should be able to help you locate the property and the find out if it is in a flood zone. The seller disclosures should also indicate whether it is in a flood zone. The site is:

If the link does not work feel free to email me and I will be glad to help you out with it.

The best thing to do is call the town hall in the town that the house is located in. The city or town hall would know if that area is prone to flooding. Enjoy your day!
