How do I find an affordable studio or one bedroom apartment?

Asked by Miza, Brooklyn, NY Fri Aug 1, 2014

Hello I am interested in finding a property that I can personally reside in. I have $6,000 set aside for a downpayment. Just accepted a new position and income is 67k and credit 720. I would love to find an FHA eligible property but many of the places I seem to find are co-ops, which would require a higher down payment. I will need to leave my current living arrangement soon, and would like to move into my own property if it is at all a possibility. Any suggestions on what I can do? I am looking to stay in Brooklyn and am open to most neighborhoods but would prefer East Flatbush, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, BedStuy or Crown Heights.
