Hopefully you have Buyer representation. Your Agent would stay in close contact with the Listing Agent.
Short Sales are a "horse of a different color" and require that both Agents have qualifications to represent bothe the Buyer and the Seller.

What is your agent advising....Was your offer accepted by the seller, and do you have a purchase agreement with the seller; if so ask your agent to inquire with the listing regarding proof of submittal...

Ask (either directly or through your agent if you have one) the name and contact information for the negotiator on the short sale. Get them to confirm to you in writing that the offer has been presented.
