Eva is correct. You can search for log cabins by specifying exterior finish. However, this option is usually not available to the public. I just did a quick search for "log" homes in Buncombe County and found 11 homes ranging in price from $289,000 to $725,000. All of the homes are located in Leicester.

Finding the right agent is key! Talk to several and find one you connect with! You will be working with them for some time, so pick someone you like and can get along with.

Then that agent can set up an automatic search of the area you'd like to be in and show you all the log homes in that area. You will get new listings that meet your criteria as soon as they hit the market!

So, besides size, # BR, # baths, you need to think about where you'd like to be. Do you want to see other houses or do you want a great mountain view? Do you want to hear the sound of a creek or be close to town? How much land do you want - a lot (.05 - .5) or a number of acres? What will you do with the house - full time living or vacation home? Do you want to rent it out and produce an income? All of these things will help you in your search.

Wish I could say that I was able to assist you in finding the perfect new home but I am on the coast of North Carolina. However my parents live in that area and I have spent a good bit of time there.

Deborah's company has a great site for searching it is easy to navigate, has alot of local info and is conected to their local MLS so you get to see everything that is on the market not just their listings. If you select exterior finish as "log" you get everything that is available. If you give her a call I bet she can set you up to get updated automaticly and you can cut through looking at properties you know will not fit your criteria because there are quiet a few.

As Michael indicated there is not a quick and dirty way to search for log cabins. Any agent will be happy to help you though.
