Erin,

In addition to the other responses, if this is a home you are interested in purchasing, your agent can find out if the present home owner is paying flood insurance. Although, flood zones do change, that is one way to find out. If you are applying for a mortgage, the mortgage company will generally require a flood certification as well.

unfortanately no, you can look up flood maps in the town/city hall where the property is located. you can also go to http://www.fema.gov/hazard/map/flood.shtm and check out the fema website. good luck with your search.
