Homeowners Insurance - Are there alternatives to LA Citizens?

Hello,
I have inquired about homeowners insurance for the NO area (Lakeview) and was informed that the LA Citizens rate is around $5K. Are there any alternatives to Citizens? If not, how can people afford those prices - and that does not include flood insurance. Please advise. Thanks, Fred

email me for more info...I have a few brokers that can work all the options available. The only way you are going to get a real idea is to have a specific property in mind.

Ignore people who do not do real estate everyday....there are alternatives all depending on the specifics....take nothing for granted.
