Asked by UTHorn, 78759 Mon Apr 8, 2013

There are a number of home warranty companies available. Can anyone recommend a good one for condo coverage in Texas?

Good Morning,

I have included a few home warranty companies. I would recommend to shop and compare to see who will give the home warranty that works best for you.

Home Warranty of America (http://www.hwahomewarranty.com)
Old Republic Home Warranty (http://www.orhp.com)
2-10 Home Warranty (http://www.2-10.com)
American Home Shield (http://www.ahs.com)
Landmark Home Warranty (http://landmarkhw.com)

I wish you the best in your home warranty search!

All of these answers are great. I usually recommend Old Republic or 2-10 Home Warranty to my clients. It seems most chose Old Republic; it seems that they have had good experiences and get the best value with Old Republic.

My own personal experience has led me to select Old Republic for my own personal warranty protection on my home. They all have similar basic coverage, but there can be significant differences in how they handle claims and what they pay for various problems. Tamika's listing of various companies is accurate for Austin as well as Grand Prairie (and most of Texas.)

Thanks everyone! I've decided to go with Old Republic. I think having an assigned rep is a big plus.

We use 2-10 warranty and we have had excellent feed back from our customers.

Tamika provided a good list. You should test drive your selection, see how quickly you reach a live person on the help line and call at different times and days. If there is a great sales rep associated with the company (I think of Beverly P. at Old Republic or Melissa B. at HWA), she/he will be a great resource.

Good luck!

I believe Old Republic to be the best and actually use them at my own home as well. I believe your area rep would be Beverly Polyniak and you could mention my name if you'd like as I send her quite a bit of business…you can Ck them out at ORHP.com.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'm looking at Old Republic or First American. Anyone have experience with First American Home Buyers Protection Corp? I haven't heard much about them but they've been around for 25 yrs. Their coverage seems to be comprehensive and covers regardless of size and age of systems. The price seems reasonable.

I've personally used Old Republic personally for my homes: http://www.orhp.com
They've had great customer service and decent turn around time on service requests.

My last transaction closed with American Home Shield on the recommendation of a third party: http://www.ahs.com/
My client hasn't had to use it just yet, but they seemed pretty similar to Old Republic.

Honestly, most of the services are very similar and what you are really choosing between is a difference in fees. What I'd recommend is calling the service request line for a few of them and pretend like you are needing to enter a service call and see how you feel about each.
I'd recommend googling for "Texas Home Warranty" and working your way down the list.
