We are from Canada and looking to retire next year, I also wanted a boat. We checked out Cape Coral first cause it looked like they had some good deals.. I didn't like the area..

We ended up checking out Emerald Pointe 25188 Marion Ave Punta Gorda .. Loved the place and our monthly maintenance included boat dock on the canal in front of our Condo. They have villas and townhouses as well 3 pools and one is kept at 87F all year round.

hope that help Ken

Hi Julianne: I wonder how you are coming on our waterfront search. Punta Gorda Isles and Burnt Store Isles are both fantastic waterfront communities. Punta Gorda was a finalist for the best small city in the US! Please check out my site http://www.YourParadiseAgent.com for active listings at this time!

If you love boating, Cape Coral is the place to be. We have more choices of waterfront homes than any other area.

You may also want to consider Cape Coral! It has more salt water canals than anywhere else in the US. You can have direct access and in my opinion a lot more to offer than Punta Gorda. Just something to consider. If you need any information at all contact me at kevin.deeb@floridamoves.com. I am with Coldwell Banker and we also offer many relocation services. You can also visit my website from my profile, which offers the real MLS search. Thanks and good luck to you in your home search!

Hello Julianne;

I have lived all along the Gulf Coast from Sarasota down to Naples.

Having said that we have lived in Punta Gorda for the past 10 years and really enjoy this area the best. You get that small town feel yet you are only 30 minutes from Fort Myers and 50 minutes from Sarasota.

Punta Gorda was rated having the second lowest crime rate for a small town in Florida, only have Marco Island.

Punta Gorda has an extensive canal system that offers many price options that should fit what you are looking for. Please feel free to check out our website at http://www.mlsDetectives.com. It will allow you to search the local multiple listing service like an agent. We are also available to set you up on a search as well.

Thanks again.

Hello, Julianne -

No other place (in the country, as far as we're concerned), offers a boating environment at as reasonable a cost as Punta Gorda Isles and it's "sister" community, Burnt Store Isles (a bit further south).

For a glimpse of what you can expect to find here (including recent selling prices), click on the accompanying link - let us know what you think.

There are only a few areas in Punta Gorda with gulf access that are not in Punta Gorda Isles. To read more about the city of Punta Gorda you can go to their web site at: http://www.ci.punta-gorda.fl.us/

Punta Gorda Isles is a deed restricted area and you have the option of belonging to the Punta Gorda Isles Civic Association: http://www.pgica.org/ This web site will also give you information about the Punta Gorda Waterways - http://www.pgica.org/announce/waterways.html

If you go to my web site I have links to the communities in Punta Gorda - http://www.tammyhayes.remaxagent.com/remaxflorida/index.asp?…

One nice things about Punta Gorda Isles is that the City of Punta Gorda maintains the seawalls. I would be happy to help you find a home or answer any other questions you may have. I can also send you information about purchasing a home on a waterfront property. Keep in mind that flood insurance will be required if you are purchasing a home with a mortgage.

PGI (Punta Gorda Isles) is a number of different developments in the city of Punta Gorda. The most well known section is the area west of downtown where development in the late 1960's began the dredging of canals to create the absolute best boating community in all of Florida. Canals are wide, well maintained and have great access to Charlotte Harbor and the Gulf of Mexico.

Other sections of PGI include the Burnt Store developments (BSI has canals, other sections are dry) and Deep Creek, a large off water development.

Please take a look at our website where you can search all of Punta Gorda and especially the waterfront areas of Punta Gorda Isles.

I have a great deal of experience boating and sailing in this area and would be happy to help you find a home to fit your needs. Feel free to email or call if yo have questions about the area or boating access of any home.

Thanks so much.. How far is the nearest beach from PGI? Also, we have 2 dogs, a large collie and a Shetland sheepdog. I read something about pets in PGI.. would it be possible to put a fence up?
