What are some nice areas to purchase a home/townhome around Medical Center, Downtown or Galleria areas? I do not want to commute, so communities no more than 20 minutes from these areas would be ideal. My price range would be anywhere from $150-175K for a minimum of 3 bdrm/2ba (You can't get a one bedroom apt for this amount in Los Angeles). I've gone on numerous real estate sites and I have quickly realized that a newer property (Within the last 5 yrs) in the above areas will cost me at least $250K for a newer condo/townhome. So, any communities just outside of my ideal areas would suffice. A newer single family home would suffice as well. I also plan on purchasing an income property as well, so the most bang for my buck for a separate income property in a desireable area would be great too! Any suggestions?

Good morning, Tasha.
We can definitely find you a townhome in your price range in the Galleria area . . .however, they are going to be older than 5 years. There are numerous condos and townhomes in the medical center area in your price range, but again they will be older. I suggest getting together and looking at what is available in your price range first in the close-in areas. Then if you decide you want something newer, we could go into Pearland or Sugarland. BUT . . .if we do that, you're going to have to commute longer than 20 minutes most of the time. Let's get together and find you exactly what you need. Please feel free to contact me at your convenience at Meg@FineHomesHouston.com or 713-875-4844. I really look forward to meeting you and assisting you in finding your new home.

There are some very nice townhomes that fit your needs, location and price range.
Please go to my website where you can do a very simple and quick search. Being you don't want to cummute far I would say stay in the proximity of Rice, Fanning, 610 loop and 288. I'll be more than happy to help you find a desirable property. My website is agoodhome.com. I would suggest a visit here first to determine which area you like and can afford. Good luck on your move. I know you will enjoy Houston and the friendly people here. Although extremely different from the City of Angels, we are a city of diverse cultures, great restraurants, theatres and plenty of activities for 'singles' Carpe Diem
Hi Tasha,
A great place to look would be Pearland. That would be your closest bet. Other than that, you could venture out to Sugar Land. You might be able to find a townhome in the Galleria area in your price range. Please let me know if I can help you in any way. Thanks!
