With sale prices rebounding and rising so fast no seller/owner is going to lock themselves into a price today that a year from now will most likely be much higher.
Renting to own was a marketing gimick that was saying rent this apartment instead of another and in the end, most never turn into a sale due to the quickly shifting market and mortgage requirements to close at the buy end.
You will be better off renting an apartment below the maximim that you can afford and save, save, save for your downpayment and spend the year or so really looking at buildings and neighborhood options for your purchase.
