Hello Shedaquarium:

Congratulations on your potential condo purchase in SoMa!

One way to find out about crime is to use Trulia's built in crime analysis tool. See this link for more info:

The best way to find out about local crime is to simply contact the local police precinct and get the stats from the source.

As a Realtor that has worked in this area I can tell you that it is all relative to who you are and what you consider 'safe'. There are still zones in this area that I wouldn't necessarily want a girl friend or female friend walking around alone at night in but that is city living. That being said, it's also one of the fastest growing locations in San Francisco and changing for the better everyday.

Price per square foot is all determined by the age, condition, and type of the home. Your agent should be able to pull that information for you pretty easily.

Good luck!

HI There,
That part of SOMA is up and coming, and doesn't have the demand, as the area around the ball park. Also, there is a lot of traffic daily and it's in-between the the bus lines. As for pricing, it's supply and demand in SF. Your best bet is to check the recent sales comps on similar units in that area. I would recommend using the SFMLS. The sales data there would more accurate and up to date. As always I am here to help.
