Hi, My parents have finally sold their home, and are now looking for 55 community

They would like to be close to us. We live in Stevensville, MD, right off the Bay Bridge.
Their budget is $ 290- 300k and would like either 3 bed room single family home or 3 bed room villa. They prefer 55 community with acess to nearby library, and community college. I have looked around and could not find any that fit the requirements... I looked at Waldorf and it seems a bit too far... any suggestions? Another requirement is relatively low property tax... I think they are hoping for something below 1% (under 3k)

How about Annapolis? There is a large 55+ community that offers patio homes with a ton of activities. What about Severna Park? There is a 55+ condo community within walking distance to the library and 5 minutes to Anne Arundel Community College. What about Millersville? There is a new condo community with shops & walking distance to a health club. What about Crofton? There is a condo community within shops and resturants. I would like to e-mail you listings and take you parents out to show them what is out there. Please contact me.

There are 2 communiites locally, Symphony Village in Centreville, MD - there is a county library in Centreville plus Chesapeake College within 10 minutes
Also there is a Dell Webb community, Chesapeake, in Easton MD, also a county library in Easton and about 10-15 minutes from Chesapeake Community college.
The $300k ceiling may be a little tight but I would be glad to put together some information for you and your parents, where are they moving from?
There is one other location in Easton that is a closed community of a collection of manufactured homes, several are currenlty available for $120,000 -$170,000, there is a community pool and center, well cared for community
Please let me know how I may assist, jimbent@goeaston.net

If you would like me to research some options and discuss them with your parents, please let me know. My own mother-in-law moved into a community in Anne Arundel county and loves it. There are of course many other options but I would prefer to talk to them to make sure I cover their needs. As you probably know most MD counties have property tax protections for owner occupied properties. AA county would be very close to you.

There certainly are some choices in the suburbs of Chicago, 30 - 40 minutes from downtown Chicago, our challenge is the taxes, but with senior tax exemptions, and staying in the suburbs, I would be happy to research further. You can contact me @ susan.brill@bairdwarner.com
