two towns keeping the schools, and commute to either directions Boston (back bay) and newbedford. Not able to decide between Easton and Mansfield as Esaton has better schools, and mansfield has the train station though the schools lag a bit behind ( Please correct me if I am wrong). Any ideas as to when is the easton train line going to be functional? Easton is most spreaded so which side of it (east or west) has good schools. I like the Mansfield schools system which functions irrespective of the school city. What are the price differences of homes between these two cities? Lot of concerns- cost of living, city property taxes, cost of education (2 toddlers) etc.

Thanks & cheers.

I was looking at both these and went to north attleboro . easton is a drive from boston which you will not enjoy. I take the attleboro train to boston . I ride my bike/motorcycle to the station and in winter the car. from attleboro i am 45 minutes to backbay. easton train might not come , their are leaning towards the train going to norton very seriously to fall river. even then these trains will come all the way to attleboro before heading north.from easton you can drive to stoughton to backbay[ as the brockton /bridge water line means i have to make to south station then green/red line to backbay .
good luck contact me if need more info i spend some time before deciding .I just signed the P'&S on ours and closing next month.

They are both great communities with good reputations for their school systems. Here are links to a couple of good sites, one for schools and one for community info. Easton is probably a little bit higher in price and depending where you work, highway access is not quite as easy as Mansfield. I've been servicing both of these communities for over 15 years, and have sold to clients in both towns. I've never heard anything negative from anyone who purchased in either of the two towms.

Hi Smr,

I am a colleague of Rob Goodwin and he gave you great information. I just wanted to add that although Easton has 2 zip codes, all of the town's children attend the same middle and high school.
Best of luck. Please don't hesitate to contact us if we can be of any further help to you. We are very familiar with both towns.

Best Regards,

Joanne

Good morning Smr:

In general , I don't think you can make a bad decision here as they are both great towns to raise your family. Here are some sites to give you more data:

Property values and taxes are fairly comparable. Mansfield has more industry so the taxes might be somewhat lower. Keep in mind things change over periods of time. It is not a given that the train will come to Easton, and if it does it will be some years off. There are several stations in surrounding towns you could go to, parking is an issue , but can be overcome. The Easton schools are all in one area for the most part except for a few of the K-2 schools.

I applaud your due diligence Smr.

Regards,

Rob
