Christie,
It depends if it's in the City of Smyrna or if it's unincorporated Cobb County with just a Smyrna address. Assuming that this will be your primary residence and file for the homestead exemption, you can use 1.32% if you're in the City of Smyrna, which will include both city and county taxes and you can use 1.08% if it is in unincorporated Cobb County, but with a Smyrna address. Also keep in mind that the assumption is generally to multiply these percentages against the purchase price. However, if you're looking at a foreclosure that was a $600K house and is now a $400K house, you'll initially be paying taxes based on what the tax assessor says is the value, not what you're purchasing the home for.
