Short Term will in the end if placed with a good PM help pay for expenses while leaving time for your personal Holiday time.
Long Term will again pay for most if not all depending on the price you pay for the property of the expenses of owning the property. This could be a safer bet if the monthly cost of owning is a problem in the beginning to give time to recover with the economy and then transition back to short term.

Low to mid $100s is accomplishable in the current market. The further you go from Disney, the greater choice you will find in this price range.
Based on your comments, it sounds like you are really looking for a holiday home with the option to rent short term. For reliable and consistent rental you want to be as close to Disney as possible. To this end, the "best" rental properties will be higher if wanting a detached single family pool home.
Here is a list of all the Short Term single family homes with pools in Clermont, Davenport, and west Kissimmee under $150,000 US
Most of these will be foreclosures, but great bargins.

As you mentioned Davenport/Clermony are great investment areas for STR. Haines City is also another area that has many of these.
Highlands Reserve,Calabay Parc, which are just north of the I-4 exchange at rte 27.
$150K is a bit on the low end but do able.
There are numerous golf courses in the area and the close proximity to the Attractions make this area great for STR.
Many of these homes already have management in place for bookings. Many owners have their own websites and do their own bookings.
