Hello my family will be moving to Corpus Christi this summer and we will purchase a home. We will get a

preapproval loan from our Credit Union before we arrive. Once we pick out a home and the contract is accepted by the seller, how long will it take to settle and move into the house? We are a military family and need to move in ASAP. Thank you for your help

Hi Yvette,

While you're interviewing agents, you will want to consider Steve Free. He's lived in Corpus Christi his whole life and has more than 30 years experience. He's very easy going, has a great sense of humor and knows Corpus like the back of his hand. He knows of homes that haven't even hit the market yet and can help you get into your new home very quickly as well as aclimate you to the area and plug you in to Corpus Christi. You can reach him at Kessling Services at 361.946.3045.

Thanks,
Terri Hayley

I see the basics of your question have been answered but there are a few more things to take into consideration. If you find a home that is already vacant there is always the possibility of doing a temporary lease back until you can close. The most important advice I can give if you are looking for a quick closing and move in is to have all your required documentation ready and work with a local lender, they are familiar with TX lending requirements. If you haven't found a Realtor to work with you in this area, please visit my web sitehttp:// www.shonnare.com, I will be glad to answer any questions. Shonna

Yes, thank you for serving our country! Being both the wife of of a servicemember and a Realtor here in Corpus I have helped many military families purchase homes in short periods of time. The typical closing is 30 days, but if the lender works quickly, I've closed conventional loans in as little as 2 weeks. Again, it depends on your lender and also if you have all the documentation they'll need so they can get the loan through underwriting. I would be happy to help you with your home search here in Corpus. I have a special Military incentive program. Check out my website. www.sarahblight.com for the details!

If you are looking at new homes from a builder and the home is on the ground the builder usually will have you close on the home in 30 days or less. Then at that point you will be able to move in.
Thank your service in the military. I am very thankful for the people that serve. Have a great day.

Dear Yvette, Congratulations on your upcoming move to Corpus Cristi. The typical time frame from contract to closing is 30 days +/-. Factors that may change the timeline include but are not limited to terms set forth in the contract (either party may need more or less time), the type of loan you elect to use may take longer (Conventional, VA, FHA), home appraisal process, etc. May I ask if you are a USAA member or with Navy Federal Credit Union? If so, you may be eligible to special home buyer and/or seller incentives when using a Coldwell Banker United, Realtors sales associate. Do you happen to have a home to sell in your current location? I would like to help you. Kayelin Wright (Coldwell Banker United, Realtors - Texas)

Is your credit union approved to do business in the State of Texas? I am a Texas real estate agent and a Texas home mortgage loan officer, and if a client thought they had a better deal with another lender out of state ended up problems at the end at closing
